Feature Friday- Paper Coterie

Some of you may already know I have a weakness for all things pretty and paper. So a few weeks ago when I won a gorgeous giveaway on Beautiful Hello Blog and I was so excited!

The giveaway was for creating your own photo book with Paper Coterie! After having a little snoop around their website I was in love! Everything is just gorgeous, there are so many fab designs to choose from and it took me a while but I finally decided on making a photo book with all my Instagram shots.

Their website was so fun and easy to use, it allows you to upload all your photos and try out different designs and layouts till you find one that’s perfect.

My little book arrived the other day and I am so impressed! The quality is fantastic and I would highly recommend checking out Paper Coterie!

April Instagram Recap!

Well to be honest I am glad April has been and gone because it wasn’t the best month for me. I turned 30 years old and instead of having a party everything had to be cancelled at the last minute because I ended up in hospital! So not the best start to turning the big 30 but on a more positive note I have some fun things to look forward too in the coming months so I can hopefully put these last few weeks behind me and move on! Here’s a few Instagram pics from April including the very special birthday card Miss K made for me :)

December Instagram Recap!

Well this months Instagram recap does seem to have a bit of a Christmas theme to it. December is definitely my most favourite time of year and we have had an awesome month spent with family and friends. Just the other day we also took a trip out to the SPCA animal shelter and picked up “Maddie” who we fell in love with the moment we saw her! I’m so happy we have been able to give her a new home. I cant wait to see what 2013 has in store for us! If you are on Instagram you can find me @ carlydb I’d love to link up :)

Wrapped In Christmas Lights

This year for our Christmas cards I thought we would try the “Wrapped In Christmas Lights” idea. I did wonder if Miss K would actually stand there wrapped in lights for me but luckily she thought it was good fun and went with the idea.

I took a whole lot of photos so that I had quite a few to work with and then narrowed down to my final four. To make my photo collage I uploaded the photos to PicMonkey and edited them online.

I decided to turn the photos to black and white as the colour ones were not very good quality. On PicMonkey I adjusted the size to 7×5 inches so when they were printed it was a standard card size. I took the finished photo into a printers and asked for the image to be printed on to 7×5 greeting cards and they even supplied the envelopes. Here’s how our personalised Christmas cards turned out!

This month I am also linking up with other bloggers in the Collectively Creative “Joyful” edition. (If you scroll down you will see the links) Head on over and check them out for some other neat Christmas ideas! Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas! xoxo

Making Sun Catchers

After seeing this idea on Pinterest I thought we would try making some sun catchers. It’s a quick and easy craft for kids and they love the finished product!

Using a silicone baking mould we added coloured beads into a layer on the bottom. Then placed into the oven at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. You need to keep an eye on the beads as they melt because it does smoke a bit and make sure the room is very well ventilated.

Once they are melted sit the baking mould outside to cool down completely before turning the sun catchers out. To hang them we drilled a tiny hole and threaded through fishing wire. You can then place them in your own windows to brighten up the room or the kids can even make them as gifts for family and friends.

Oreo Spiders and Mummy Juice Boxes

Hi everyone! Well with only a few sleeps to go until Halloween a bunch of us bloggers have teamed up to bring you some awesome ideas. I decided for Halloween I would make some fun kids snacks, Oreo Spiders and Mummy Juice boxes!

To make the Oreo Spiders you will need:

  • Oreo’s biscuits
  • Smarties
  • Licorice strips
  • Icing

First pull the licorice strips in half, cut to length and then stick into the center of the Oreo for your spiders legs. For attaching the eyes add a blob of icing and pop the Smarties on top!

For the Mummy Juice Boxes you will need:

  • Juice boxes with straws
  • White masking tape
  • Googly eyes
  • Hot glue gun

Wrap the juice boxes in the masking tape all over leaving a crease in the tape for the eyebrows. Using a hot glue gun attach the googly eyes below the eyebrow crease and then stick the straws in the top. All done!

For some other creative Halloween ideas be sure to check out all the other blogs involved in this months Collectively Creative! Thanks so much to Kelly from Cobwebs, Cupcakes And Crayons for organising the blog event :)  Hope you all have a fantastic Halloween this year!

Feature Friday- Memi The Rainbow

What I am loving this week is the amazing handmade creations by Memi The Rainbow. Available through her Etsy shop Memi The Rainbow crafts the cutest handmade stamps! The range of hand carved rubber stamps are just adorable, plus there is also the sweetest felt brooches, jewelery and more! Check them out for yourself here at her Etsy shop. Hope you enjoy!

Ice Eggs

I came across this idea on a great craft blog I sometimes check out called A Little Learning For Two. Ice eggs cost pretty much nothing to make and you can fill them with things like toy soldiers, coloured stones, pretty much anything lying round the house!

I must say I was a bit worried the balloons were going to break when I put the figurines in but after a couple of attempts you get the hang of it. Firstly you put the figurines into the balloon by opening the neck of the balloon up, then inflate with water using the tap and then tie off. I left the ice eggs in the freezer overnight to make sure they froze properly. With a snip of the scissors the balloons peel right off the eggs.

Miss K was amazed seeing all her farm animals frozen! We ended up smashing some open and letting some melt. Another awesome idea you can try with the ice eggs is bowling. You would need some empty plastic bottles to use as the ten-pins and a bunch of ice eggs! Would be a great boredom buster for the kids on school holidays!

Feature Friday- Party Papers

Today I just had to share with you one of the coolest shops I have come across on the online marketplace Etsy. Party Papers by The Homespun Hostess has some of the most adorable party stationary I have ever set my eyes upon! There is a great range of designs to choose from and what makes it even better is that you can either order a printed party package or print it at home yourself! I would totally recommend checking this shop out if you have a party coming up. Everything is covered from the invitations right down to the drink labels! Party Papers has all the pretty packaging you will need to tie your next party together :)
